During the Vietnam War (or conflict, if you prefer), the Viet Cong received supplies (food, ammunition, etc) by way of the rat rod bike. These bikes were cobbled together to brave the infamous Ho Chi Minh trail- an intricate, treacherous pathway cut through the jungles of Laos and Cambodia. This was one of those (actual) bikes. It is currently on display at the Museum of American History in Washington D.C.
