Hey guys, so I have a '78 steel Sturmey Archer AW freewheel 3-Speed (say that 5 times fast) And I was considering making a boardtracker project from a 77 Metrocycle. I was wondering if anyone knew the insides of these or hub gears in general to know if it would be possible to simply make the freewheel on the inside a fixed wheel, as far as I know as long as there isn't immediate stress and tension from pedaling on the gears the hub can shift fine, in fact it CAN shift during pedaling - it's just really hard on it. The point being if I can get this to be a fixed wheel hub then I can jackshaft a motor to the hub itself and be able to push start the bike and just use the motor's clutch to let the bike "freewheel" when I need to - that is if the freewheel on the inside of these things is even modifiable at all. Any help or ideas?

Thanks, Hans
