Speaking for myself, I always take the time to go and look at the build thread for each and everyone. Take the time to see how much effort, thought, and documentation was put into it.

1. Visceral feel (pleasing to the eye)
2. Build thread content (innovation, engagement, documentation)
3. Would I own it

I like to absorb everything and then let it settle. I read everything in the build threads as we go along. Then skim the finished threads.
Then I choose which bikes I like at the last second in a blind panic because I nearly forgot to vote again!
So basically, it's a combination of the finished photo, and how much the builder has managed to make their build stand out over the months. Honestly, the threads make a difference; for example, Carl's writings earn him points. I'm not exactly sure what kind of bike he'll bring, but the prose woven into his thread have me hooked!
Another way to earn my favor is through audience interactions, especially with Matti. If you took the advice of the hive mind, and it made a better bike, that makes me happy. If you took my advice, it makes me feel like I'm voting for "my" bike.

You can vote for multiples right? I couldn't pick just one
I don't know if you still own your 2 earlier bikes from the link above, but those are some of the nicest, coolest, cleanest lined bikes and are absolutely beautiful!

I start old school RRBBO buildoff voting rules, and pick the three I like the best first. Then circle back through the list a few times and vote for additional favorite bikes in different custom bikes's categories, muscle, rusty, BMX, skinny, road, stretch, custom, just frigging cool, etc. If it's more than 10 after that I whittle it down a bit if i can..

I still own and enjoy both! Thank you

From my part there was engagement, but like every buildoff, I wish I had the time to follow all the builds.

It was again a fun year, that is for sure!

I don't have a set number, but usually I'll do my best to keep it at 10% or less (i.e. one out of every ten). It's not easy to cut any from my list, but if I vote for every bike that catches my eye, then I feel like the results get watered down. I actually liked it way back when everyone got three votes.

BTW, I like the methodology that @Captain Awesome described.

Lol I'm the one watering it down. I feel lucky if I vote for less than 50%. View attachment 276399

You're definitely a participant, Matti. Even when you don't have an active build going. You're advice and humor are integral to the process and the build offs wouldn't be the same without you. So you go ahead and grab Bart's smaller trophy.
