This is why when I buy a bike new or old I always break it down to the bare frame and re-build it before I ride it. Grease all the bearings, make sure everything is tight, make sure all the parts are there! I bought a Magna 21 speed MTB and the crank was missing 3 bearings and was so loose I took it out with no tools. You'd think they'd hire someone who actually knows a little about bikes.

I usually check out the bike rack at the Wally world here in town and I have not yet noticed anything like that. The only thing I ever noticed was once last year a few of the 20 inchers had the back wheel so tight they wouldn't even roll.

i was a bicycle mechanic for awhile this summer at a real bike shop, getting to put all those years of practice and knowledge to godd use, helping a friend untill he could find a permanent guy, but as someone who has put together alot of bikes from the package and built and tune them, i can say that if you don't know how to do something, ASK. it isn't very easy unless your trained and i can understand wanting to "protect" the paint by leaving on all the shipping wrap and cardboard shields, and thats what i will tell myself what their management team or asymbaler was trying to do, because anything else would be... unthinkable.

 I saw some of those in similar stores...

But wait guys... Maybe those wallmartbiketechs are way ahead and therefor cooler than all of us! For all we know these are the new hip retro oldschool vintage velodrome indoor racing forks...

^ I came across these pics yesterday and can't stop wondering about how the handling on one of those bikes must feel...

But still... I'd rather flip the handlebars than the fork...

it's not just Walmart. Saw this at the shore last week. I was going to offer to fix it for the owner but when I returned from my ride it was gone.
