I was wondering if there were any bike groups or clubs in the DC area.

Here's my baby:

Any new groups or clubs in Maryland?

There are plenty of advocacy groups--BikeMD, BikeAAA, BikeHoCo--and clubs that focus on riding. I don't know how up-to-date this listing is.

If, as I suspect, you're seeking other builders, then Velocipede Bike Project may be the only surviving organized co-op. They're in downtown B-more, at 100 22nd Street & Howard. I volunteer sometimes and it can be a great resource, but I have to travel to get there.

I was hoping some sort of vintage group would be in the area. I live in Harford county and the local bike shops have rides. But they are pretty hardcore.

Opposite direction, bud--I'm in AACo. A few others live on the Eastern Shore. Too bad we're so scattered. I ride the NCRR from time-to-time, but don't get "up north" all that often.

In case you weren't aware, there is an annual bicycle swap meet held in Westminster...next scheduled for Feb 2018. Guess I missed it again this year! http://www.stopswapandsave.com

Is there much old stuff there?

They do get some from time-to-time. I picked up a '53 CWC Roadmaster back in September and they recently sold a very collectable '49 Columbia Five-Star Superbe. Right now, they have this complete Rollfast step-through w/ tank that I estimate dates from the early '60's. Gender change?

This was at Velocipde, BTW. I understand the swap meet also has it's share of vintage parts vendors. I do recall a Silver King that was out of my price range.

I'd love to build a bike using a TRM tank

Also, were you aware of this makerspace? They can grant access to all kinds of groovy tools, especially the CNC plasma cutter. Ostensibly, one could cut their own custom chainrings there.

I work about 20 miles minutes from there. That's looks like a neat place
