Fresh from the Ann Arbor Classic Bike Show, a Western Flyer boys bicycle. I plan a fun clunker ride with a little world war 2 altitude.

I wonder if the stem is original? I have taken many of these stems of later bikes but I don't know when they started making them. It's crusty enough to be original but I have never seen one on a bike this old. It should make a wonderful clunker. Anyone know if this bike came with this stem?

Looks like it's coming apart pretty well for the condition

The front looks good. Clean, grease, paint, tire.

The back has a bendix but sort of a mess. Rust and rubber needs stripped off. Anyone has suggestions to 60 year old glued rubber or electrical tape off?
I am thinking a heat gun and adhesive remover after.
