I picked this guy up a couple days ago and just got to tearing it apart and stripped for paint and a sick rebuild.

I'm not sure the year, if someone could help me pinpoint or at least ballpark the year that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

The wald neck might have a date stamp on it and so might the crank. I would guess 70's Murray made. But I'm often wrong!

Looks like a great bike to ride tho!

What do you use to sand to a polish from that state?

80-600 grit sandpaper. Turns out nice and shiny. I then hit it with a 0000 steal wool.

By hand or power tool? I'd like to see the finished product? I have some that look like that which I couldn't even get off with a wire brush on a power drill

These are the numbers off the head tube anyone know how to decode them?

According to what I read here:

"M0" means 1970 or 1980 if they recycle numbers.

Quick update on the flyer build. It's no longer primer gray. It's going to get a fade from ruby red to the blue that it is now. The forks will also be the same ruby red. It will look so good in a couple days.

I got the red laid out. I wish I could get a smoother gradient with a rattle can but it turned out pretty good I think. Next is a sealer.
What do you guys recommend for a clear coat/sealer?
