western flyer serial # help

need help figuring out what year my bike is it has two different sets of numbers on the BB one is 37186 & the other one is stamped different mur 22x18

Here is a 1952 that looks kinda like it. could be a year or two older or newer

Its Murray built. Its skiptooth so its probably pre 54? I'm no expert though. Cool bike!

I dont think theres a way to decode murray numbers, at least I havent found it yet

That's a sweet ride, Invalid! If you go to the Cabe (Classic & Antique Bicycle Exchange) forum, and look for the "Murray serial # project" thread, I think it's under the classic balloon bicycles header. There's some decoding of Murray #s there. I'd agree though that yours looks 54ish. -Adam

i gotta agree, pre 54'. really diggin that murray built WF as well as uncle stretch's monark built one. great patina and with most of the oe decal on the tank, id leave it be, paint wise and ride as is.
