Im going to go ahead and start a build thread for this one even though i havnt started yet  but soon. Wife wanted a cruiser soi got a hold of this Western Flyer and she has been deciding on colors and stuff. Its going to have a nexus three speed cuz we live around some hills any way heres a before pic I found a chain guard that will work

Re: Western flyer tank bike for wife

If you have hills where you live I would suggest
putting a higher tooth count sprocket on the Nexus.

I did that to my 3 speed Electra and it made the
bike much more rideable. They come with a 19 tooth
sprocket, so start with a 21 or even 23 tooth.

Sturmey Archer sprockets also fit Nexus 3 speeds, and
Harris Cyclery carries them. Start high and go lower if needed,
since it's simpler to shorten the chain than to make it longer.

5 speed hubs are more useful, but you would have to widen
the rear dropouts to fit one.

Did this Schwinn for my wife a while back. It's a bubble gum pink(florescent from Lowes w/ clear over it). There are a lot of cool pinks. I will check back to see what hers looks like! :D

that looks great 8) . I like pink but the wife has never really been big on it so I'm kinda suprized she picked those colors

Re: Western flyer tank bike for wife

got it all torn down. Going to drop off the frame, forks, and rear rack to be powder coated black. then going to do some body work on the tank and fenders and get them ready to paint pink. 8) I painted the chain guard to get a look at the color
