I was looking at Keno bikes when I saw this picture. I recognized those brakes as similar to the ones on a Sears Free Spirit I took apart. I really like the shape and design of the steel brakes. I remember them being surprisingly smooth.
I have used both, but side pull brakes are more precise, while center pull brakes are stronger. Center pull brakes do feel spongy. I mostly use side pull brakes, but I am planning on using a center pull on the rear and a side pull on the front for 2 of my bikes. Those are center pull brakes. I remember in the early 70's when your bike was better because you had center pull brakes instead of side pull brakes.
I know that they are center pull brakes. I wanted to know what specific model they are. Where I live, there are many Dia Compe and Weinmann center pull brakes. They are both the exact same design and materials, even if one is Japanese and the other is made in Belgium. Schwinn has their branding on these canter pull brakes sometimes. Where I live, these are the standard center pull brakes to be put on a bike. Most of the 10 and 12 speeds where I live are Asian or have all Asian parts.Eyup, center pull.
Very popular in Polish & USSR racing bikes
I even came across something wierder & by luck bought another one to have a matching pair in my Gravel Wagant:
It's a side pull, but works like a center pull
