Usually i have the radio on classic rock stations or alternative rock...whatever you want to call it
More than that, i have CD's of techno/Electronica (And the tons of branches off the two) since I dont have a sirius Dock in my shop

i listen to just rock -n- roll. sometimes country an blues if i can find it.

Outlaw 8)

Since I have to work on my patio with my neighbors just feet away I usually listen to a smooth jazz station. Trying not to annoy neighbors. I have an old stackable type all in one but the cd and cassette player stopped working years ago. If I have been working out there on Sat. and the beers have been going down good I will drag out a small portable cd player and crank up my blues collection. 8)

I listen to Pandora.com, for those of you who are not familiar with it, it's the best internet radio ever!!! You can register for free and it will ask you for a band or song title to play. When you give it the one song it uses the music genome project data base to form a station around that selection. I love ska, for my first experiment with it I typed in "reel big fish" my favorite band ever. The playlist formed as Reel big fish, Less Than Jake, Rancid, The Slackers, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Specials, and The Aquabats. It was dead nuts on what I like. If a song comes on that you don't like you can give it a thumbs down and it will fine tune to your liking. Better yet, once you have a list of custom stations you can mix those together too!!!

Right now I'm listening to a PunkSkaRockbillyMozartOpera mix. It's incredible.
I love Pandora!I've been using it for a while. Also live365.com is pretty sweet too.

i prefer some 311, definately 311 just a blarin away, maybe some tokio hotel, rob zombie, disturbed, slipknot, or if the cds arent around then the alternative station 96.5 the buzz or 98.9 the ROCK. i like my music like i like my women!!! Fast and Loud!!!

Easy E

usually classic rock when I get the channel
or sometimes faster cds like: Motorhead, Kid Rock, Circle Jerks
or bluegrass stuff like Todd Snyder, Fred Eaglesmith, or Robert Earl Keen

to be honest, anything playing is A-OK, even if its same song over & over, no sports, or talk radio - has to have a beat - T.

... Fred Eaglesmith...
One of the bouncers at my bar gave me a CD of Ralph's Last Show a few months ago! It's one of the best driving albums I've ever heard! Hasn't left my truck since. I don't know how I missed him until now. Incredible!

I usually avoid these questions... because I really listen to just about everything... I can't even get into specifics or this thread will be 8 pages long of the music I listen to...

So to be concise, I listen to everything from Norwegian black metal (Mayhem, Emperor, etc...), to underground hiphop (Dr. Octagon, Del The Funky Homosapien, etc...), to old school country (Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, etc...), to lo-fi analog synth-rock (Black Moth Super Rainbow, Octopus Project), to psychobilly (Reverend Horton Heat, Frantic Flinstones...) to jazz (Miles, Coltrane, Brubeck, etc...), to movie soundtrack composers (Ennio Morricone, Danny Elfman, etc...), to latin/salsa (Buena Vista Social Club, Gyspy Kings, etc...), to heavy electronica (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, etc...), to ambient electronica (M83, Plaid), to Japanese noise punk (Melt Banana), the classics of soul and funk and groove, (James Brown, Herbie Hancock, etc...), and of course all forms of rock (I don't really need to list examples of that), and even stuff that is unclassifiable, like Mr Bungle and Secret Chiefs 3.

whew, I could go on, but that is the short list. I haven't even touched on some of my favorite bands.

And by the way, I put the entire playlist on shuffle. Viva variety.

this is a cool thread. you guys(and gals) put up some good stuff.
i've been doin' this for a long time and i usually listen to diferent stuff depending on the job at hand or my mood.

when wrenching--the stones, zztop, the ramones, the cramps.
when doin' bodywork--cash, willie, hank, stanley bros, bill monroe.
when cutting/grinding/welding---stuff like motorhead, ministry, rob/white zombie.

when i'm just relaxing in the garage not really workin' i like stuff like tom waits, VU, dylan.

of course there are many others, but i think you guys mite get bored w/ my listening habits.

Wow! Multiple Rush fans!! Also one of my favorites! But when I'm in my backyard cabin (garage), it's FM radio 93X, rock, or 92 KQRS, classic rock. I can tell when my wife's been in the garage....... Lite FM!
