she downright hates it i love riding bicycles rat or not i tried to get here into riding a bike but she shot it down when its warm out im nowhere to be found and all my finances are wrapped up in builds. but i got it made shes only my girlfriend i told her is you dont like what i do the highroad is to the left.

Most Women prefer to be #1

Mine really would prefer I payed all my attention to her. She has become more accepting of it as long as the time spent is close to the same. Heck, one time she told me she was going to tattoo Schwinn on her top and backside just so I would pay closer attention! I let her know that without the proper " background" it probably wouidnt be very effective and she might want to try another approach. LOL Later & PEACE!!!!

Slick Rick..
That was hilarious..

Highridah....
I have found that it's all about ballance..in everything.

I grew up on a Bike, and I can not remember not being on a Bike.
My Girlfriend loves that I have a Pasion for something.
As well I spend a lot of Time with my 2 kids..and her Son
on the Bikes.

Instead of trying to get her( your girlfriend ) to accept,
or like it the way you do, Find something she likes
...even if you think it's frigin Dumb...
do it with her.

I mean anything!!!!...cooking...watching a Program on TV she likes...Decorating....just Bite your Tongue and do
it with her.

You will probably like doing it, and she will be happy...and
when she's happy..it's all good.

BUT..if I spend to much time on my bikes then I'm off balance and
My Girlfriend gives me the hairy eyeball

as far as the act of Riding goes..as long as she's comfortable
on The Bike I built ( seat, cadence, gearing..looks cool  )..then she's happy

That's how it works for me anyways...
peace,
Kev.

My wife enjoys the bikes, both riding and kustomizing them. We ride rails-to-trails and cruises together and she's active with our bike club and events. She just doesn't like the extreme I take it to and would get rid of half the bikes if she had her way. I occasionally here "that's all you think/talk about" or "you need to get rid of some of those bikes".

I have often cringed over on the Schwinn forum when reading posts where guys make stupid statements like, "My wife didn't like the bikes so I got rid of her!"...or...."She got between me and my hobby and now she's my ex." I think what they meant to say was....I have a problem and our marriage was in the trash to begin with.

I'm in agreement with Kev on this....it's all about balance.

There also comes a time when folks need to recognize that the "hobby" is actually taking their finances, family, marriage into the dump. Some of the guys I have seen it's obvious that they have psychological issues and haven't quite grasped the concept that "just one more" isn't going to satisfy.

There, whew....my morning vent...now I'll go have a Jamba Juice...ha ha!

My husband (Bryn, aka Vancruisers) and I are almost equal in our obsession with bikes. In addition to working on our website together, we ride together at least 3-4 times a week and have dedicated our master bedroom to being the bike storage/repair room. Our actual bedroom is a bit smaller, but that's ok if it means we can have all our bikes! :D

I think another thing that needs to be said is it's up to the other person to learn tollerance and happiness that their loved one is that obsessed with something. There's plenty of people out there that lack passion in their life, and I count myself lucky to be with someone who has it for a great number of things, let alone one of my favorite hobbies.

Now, I will say that there are times when I wish we could just stay home (when it's pouring rain for instance) but if I choose to stay home, I would rather Bryn gets to do what he feels like doing rather than stay home out of some weird sense of duty. Sure, I would love him to stay home with me... but at the same time I don't want to rule what he does or have him spend time with me just cause he has to. After all, I know in the end it'll make for a happier boy, and a happier relationship all round! :D

when i snuggle up to my fiancee at night she sez" dont you have a bicyle to work on?" no seriously she couldnt be happier that I mess with them cuz atleast then I AM OFF THE COMPUTER! lol
nah shes a blast to be around too bad I went thru a ton of krap to get to her
and yes its about balance :) and with my parkinson's I tad to have a few balance issues! lol
I use the hobby to pay for itself by selling parts and buying parts :)

Hooch, my wife has the same sentiments also. She is happy that I have a constructive hobby, instead of other obbsesive ones(sports).

Until you build a Bike Cman, that runs The Triple Black Diamond Runs...

I'm like you Hooch....half the fun is seeing if I can sell stuff to fund other projects....this keeps my wife happy. She also likes the fact that the cost of this stuff is waaaaaay cheaper than building hot rods...ha ha.

Nashira, you are a rare breed. :D Not many wives out there get into hot rod bikes or hot rod cars. Glad to know that yall have fun together with this hobby.

And I knew Kev wasn't married when I saw that first photo of his RRBBO bike sitting in his kitchen on a bike stand!

I was married..for 9 years..
Now I am with The one I waited all my life for..
.....on That note..
she is Happy to see The Kitchen is a Kitchen again,

and she loves Bikes!!!

My wife is fine with it. She has her own obsessions (scrapbooking and stamping) so she understands the need to be creative. She also puts up with my ADD obsessions over stuff as long as it doesn't get expensive because her own family is obsessive/compulsve and are collectors. So she "gets it" cuz she has it. Since most of my bikes have been had for free, she' cool with it.

Well my girlfriend, Rosey Palm, Don't care at all if i spend alot of time with my bikes, shes always right there by my side, grabbing my tools for me, wiping Ithe sweat from my brow, and she even helps me wrench on them! Her favorite this is to take the schwinn out for a ride... Nothing Like the wind in our hair. Here four sisters like to help me to, our Relationship is very balanced.

Haha yeah i dont got a gf so i get 2 spend as much time on my bikes as i want ITS GREAT.. Im only 16 so yea.. Lol, did i say rosey? I should have said "Hairy Palm" HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

mine hates it sometimes then comes home with a set of whitewalls for me!! And 2 new stingrays for x-mas!!

Giggles tries to be supportive of all my craziness. She loves to ride and has started a couple of builds, maybe this year she can finish them! :D
Some of the other things she's done:
Played on our Dodgeball team, participated in mudvolleyball, tug of war, strong girl contest at local bar. She kept stats for our softball team for years. Also competed in several dart and pool tournaments. I'm sure their are other things that I'll think of later.

She's not only my wife, she's also my best friend and I'm lucky to be with her! And if she reads this, I'll deny that I wrote it!
