What grip shift could I modify for 5-speed friction?

I'm going to be building another 26" muscle bike for a friend, but this time on a ladies frame. Instead of a Schwinn stick shift we want to go with a grip shift. I know Shimano made 3-speed twist grips, but did they make 5? I've never seen one.

Is there a Shimano or Sram shifter I could get to modify for friction where I could use it for 5 speeds?

Also, can you change any of those parts to white? I've only seen them in black?

I had an non indexed 5 speed grip shifter on my Huffy build from like 5 years ago. let me see if I have any pics.

I have seen 5 speed grip shifts on those small 20" dual suspension MTB's, might be a place to start...
