It wasn't quite daylight when I began this morning's adventure. It turned into a magnificent morning, and I never saw another person on the trail the whole time I was riding.

So this is what I had a quick ride on this morning, my friend dropped it off yesterday for me to do a collaboration with him, it was a butchers bike, I think I'm going to turn it into a 50's style ratrod/speed shop/racer so will sand and paint the panel but not sure with what yet, maybe a pinup or shop bike signage, going to flip the bars or similar bars into racer stance maybe try some different stems out, may put on a pair of solid alloy grips and new nuts and bolts to give it race feel, probably keep the rack/basket if we decide to do it like a shop bike, not going to mess with the patina or wheels other than a mild clean, leaving the cool flame tread tyres on too for the rod look, first pic is of the grips I might use

Took this for a spin today, this is my fixed gear bike, Avanti sprint (new zealand made) tange cromo frame tange headset, rear wheel made by the no longer "Lescykill" fixed guys (from Auckland, NZ I believe) exage action crank with a 42t biopace ring, yes I know not the way to go with an "unround" ring for fixed/ss but that's how I got it and rides fine, nice old concave Alesa front wheel, when I got it all I did was swap the seat, bar/brake/cable and stem, I'm going to put on a nicer front wheel and put on a different chainring followed by a good grease and clean

In the late 80’s people were replacing them with round chainrings including me! When I restored my 89 shogun mtb 5 years back I refitted them.

Yer to be honest I actually rode it a few times before properly checking it out, I payed $40 for it and just chucked it on the shed then one day I quickly grabbed it for a couple of rides, only then when I wanted to change some parts is when I noticed the bio ring, the slack at its highest isn't very much at all but at 42t it's gotta go

Most definitely, any old Avanti steel is highly sort after and there are some nice 80's examples going for a few hundred dollars in mint condition, I've bought cheap and sold handsomely in the past but good deals are getting rarer to get

Beautiful, theres just something about half painted chrome forks I like, and larger frame too, there's a lot of nice steel roadies here but surprisingly a lot are small frames

Rode the Rockabilly 25 miles yesterday with @Dr. Tankenstein . We explored a nice fairly new paved trail. The ride also went by my new old high school. Go HVJ Warriors!!!

This bike is one of the most comfortable riding bikes I have ever been on. It is just an excellent pedal forward cruiser geometry.

Thanks and Yes. In recent years it was voted the most livable city in the world and now we’re the world’s most lockdown city. You’ll notice there aren’t too many people and cars in the photos. The only positive is its safer to ride and easier to take photos.

In the late 19 century Melbourne became one of the world’s richest city fuelled by fortunes made in the gold fields surrounding it. During that time some amazing buildings were erected. Its unfortunate they were not appreciated and respected by people within the Melbourne City Council and between 1965 and 1978 they approved the desecration and destruction of many of the most incredible buildings in the city.

Here’s a handful of them.

We went off to do Czajki lake yesterday, and hopefully reach the gullies where Blessed Stefan Wyszyński apparently preached while hiding out from the Nazis in 1941-42. I don't really do the site-visiting stuff, religious or not, but it was close, and gullies are really great around here, always worth a visit. We drove down the lake, some 4-5 miles away, and I took Tigger the Romet Jubilat folder I prefer for off-road work while wifie took her Nordic walking sticks. It was a great trip, but we did not get far beyond the lake before all the tracks became too muddy after all the recent rain. We turned back, then too kthe car to the gullies, which were amazing, while the religious stuff was meh.

My transportation from hotel to gig this past weekend in Pensacola Beach. Played with a band Friday and Staurday night about a half mile from our hotel.

The folder got lots of attention and a couple of predictable comments leaving the bar about drunk as a bicycle. LOL
