I might be picking up this little piece of rusty gold later today. Wondering what it is. The guy said he thought it was a Ross Apollo or an AMF of some sort but the Ross Apollo has different dropouts and the lower tubes are square not round like this. I'm thinking it's an AMF Flying Wedge but want to confirm that. I thought it looked cool and it would make sweet RRBBO material.

Also is it worth anything?

Re: What is it? Muscle bike content

Im seeing 2 different frames on these bikes, one were the downtube goes to the middle section and another were the downtube goes to the actual crank bb (looks like these dont have the middle bb chamber looking piece). No idea if this a brand thing or a year thing though, or which came first.

No idea, I'll take some pictures when I get it, he said he's stuck at work and doesn't know when he'll be able to stop by.

Here is a little more info... from the archives of the Muscle Bike Museum.

You can see two of these beasts that the Museum once owned, here:

Word is that these frames broke, a lot, due to being an unconventional shape and of course being wheelied and ridden hard into the BMX era.

Agree with Rob 100% Every Ross Apollo I've came across has had booger welds around the bb, I think any frame design with a hanging bb without some kind of reinforcement is doomed when it comes to kids who did wheelies and jumped ditches

Don't mind me; I'm just trying to figure out what you're referring to with "bb"...

"BB" short for Bottom Bracket, The round casing the crank of a bicycle is installed inside of.

Here's the rest of the pics. It is also in fresh finds. I paid a bit more than I usually would for a rusty pile ($40) but I like it and have some plans for it.
