It's fun, pretty easy to ride, initially, then you start trying different manuevers and the back wheel has a mind of it's own and will throw you flat on your back, haha.

Re: What is this?

way cool. Try connecting opposite fork legs together. That way the you can control the rear steering a bit. Some cables would work if you can figure out the anchor points.

Re: What is this?

Haha, that is CatDog's bike! Does anyone remember that?

Re: What is this?

I was thinking last night of putting a stem in the rear fork and attaching a long straight bar that you can use as a tiller, but as it is you can control the rear steering pretty well with your body, but the unpredictable nature of it makes it fun. Linking the front and rear would actually limit you, as you can now turn with the wheels together (like in a drift) or turn with them opposed (dangerous). I need to make a video...

Way too cool. I like the way it rides. How about some rear steering stops to prevent the extreme steering.

What fun would that be? haha Plus, someone could possibly get good enough to handle the extremes.

Thanks guys, I had it in the church parking lot when the nearby elementary school let out, I knew some of the kids and let them ride it, they didn't really understand how to make it "drift" and luckily spin, so to them it rode mostly like a regular bike besides being a little hard to turn. No wipe outs until I got on it and got stupid. It's really fun.

This is one we built for the Christmas parade, our spot is reserved, we want to ride bikes we've built in it, only problem, we have more bikes than riders right now, so if anyone wants to come to RoRap and ride in a parade December 5th, let me know!!! Tall bikes, long bikes, sand bike, swing bikes, classics, etc...

HAHA, that looks like too much fun. great job. nice riding on the vid. lol lol lol. that just cracked me up. have fun with it.

It actually looks like you are trying maneuvers that would be easy on a swingbike. Maybe you could weld the center to make the frame solid and put your seat on the rear and it would just be a swingbike

The frame is solid, no hinge. The front turns like normal and the rear wheel turns like a front fork (because that's what it is), look again.

We are building a regular swing bike next, this was just a weird idea I had.

I wanted to weld on the rear head tube at a raked out angle thinking that it would trail easier (like a caster wheel) but that made it just want to fall to the side.

I can see where you would've thought that, what if I did add another joint there...

I'm over 200 pounds and the frame has no trouble with me, one of my students asked me yesterday what the weight limit is, he's a senior on the football team and can bench about 2 of me, he's closer to 300 lbs, I told him to get on. He rode it up and down the street then around the block, he got real good at drifting it, not a bend or crack. Before the Christmas parade I need to replace the bearings in the front fork, I noticed the cages were missing balls when I assembled, but all the stress has giving it a lot of play, so this should smooth out the front a little.
