Great idea. Friction wouldn't necessarily be high, if it only comes to pressure for a couple of degrees, and/or only compresses a tiny amount of air per turn. Looks like the regulator is just a waste gate, so you will more than likely notice something, though.
 
Those are quite smart looking. They do look to be a bit unneccessary. Also if your tire becomes punctured and you consistently force air into it to 95psi, you will probably blow a very large hole in it. I'm more interested in these air-jack hoses I see for sale. It's just a hose to fit tire valves and has a one-way check valve in it. It seems to be manufactured on the principle that if you get a flat you are going to transfer air from (an assumedly unsuspecting) someones car tire into your bike tire.

do you have a link to that ? ift would be cool if you could just blow it up with you mouth like a inflateble bed .. would be perfect for rides in remote areas
 
I wonder who they made it for?
Considering that you have to pedal the thing all the time, seems it would make more economic sense to just get the foam-filled tires instead.
