Thank all users in advance first of all. If any site can help I'm sure this is it I'm stumped I recently bought this bike from a local fellow that got this out of a barn in Chicopee Ma. the same city I am from. The bike looks like it does not have its original chain guard and Im not sure about the seat? It appears that the frame Fenders & wheels also the handle bar belong to the bike. The handle grips are made of wood. My goal for this old bike is to fully restore it to all original parts that belong. The sir.# reads H165413 There is no badge or mounting holes for a badge.

Hi how did you come to that conclusion if you dont mine me asking if from the vin can you show me a link or photo of a bike like mine so I know for sure Walker Thanks for helping
Lack of plating, wooden grips indicate wartime production.

I looked at the serial numbers for Westfied/Columbia on this webpage:

http://vintagecolumbiabikes.com/id79.html

The serial beginning with H was used in 1930 and 1960, F,G,W, and J was used 41-45, so it may or may not be Westfield. But with blacked out hubs would be during the war.

I'll see if I can find a pic of a similar bike. Looking at the graphics on the front of the frame, they look like original so that's what I'll hunt for.

I found a pic or a 42 Columbia, one of their Victory bikes offered to the civilian public. It looks like yours and yours looks like the handlebars are blacked out also. I found that same chain wheel as yours on a 43 Columbia paratrooper bike pic, so it is probably a Westfield bike.

tires for those things are weird. 26 x 1-3/8" or something. The war ate up all the steel so as a result bikes became "lightweights". (IMHO)

Chainring and stem made me think Huffman at first also but the chain ring would have originally been blacked out to match the cranks so those parts were probably swapped over at some point by someone with good taste...
