Your LBS. I have one that is like a Ebay store. He has all sorts of used bikes and parts. Pay cash and you get better deals. I also went to an auction of Bikes collected by the police dept. Most bikes were Walmart, ToysRUs junk that went for less than 5 bucks.

yardsales!!! i just picked up a set of steel cruiser wheels with ok dart white wall tires last weekend for three bucks. other than that thrift stores or if you are lucky enough to have a LBS that deals in vintage parts like the one i work at

Craigslist( and you have to watch on Craigslist )
most people selling the "Cheap Gold" list it incorrectly.
like they will say "Kids bikes"
or "Old Bikes" yaa gotta dig for the hits!

it's the guys who use the words 'Vintage" that are charging huge.
not always,but most times.

Mostly I get my old stuff buy taking the time to speak to people,
listen, and chew the fat about old stuff...Then I ask
"know anyone who has any old bikes layin around"
then the bug is out there!

More often than not they have old bikes,or
they know of them.

Like Hooch did!

peace,
Kev.

one little sign posted at my work, bank, and grocery store have netted me many many bikes. I have turned down 1000s
i got a lead on one guy who had 3 semi traliers full of bikes but to take one I had to take them all and the trailers hadnt moved in 25 years so they would have been a nightmare to move and where would i possibly put them all?
so I just put them out of my mind and they all went to a scrapper sad but true

I buy almost all my new stuff online
shipped to my door and always cheaper
