Who do you guys think makes the best quality yet affordable rims?Typically I'm just looking for 26 inch single speed, coaster brake. Just looking for some different options.

Yeah 3G are pretty nice. I've had a set before, the 2 speed kickback. Just kinda want to get an idea of other options and opinions.

Idea on what style bike your building.?
Just depends also chrome, anodized, painted, aluminum, etc..
Cruiser
Klunker

This isn't for any specific bike but I mainly work on pre war balloon stuff with new school cranks

Well I've always been a fan of the Arayas wheels but as you know they are old school.
Never had the 3G's so I can't comment on them.

Most of the time I've looked for new wheels, bike shops only have the generic one speed chinese (KT) hubs on steel wheels. I would find an older serviceable set of Worksman wheels to use. Alloy if possible. As for the hubs, a red band Bendix would be my first choice for a one speed coaster, but most are good if lubed and adjusted properly. I've used more than a few of those cheap chinese hubs and never had a problem after I've gone through them and made sure they were adjusted just right. On your heavier bikes, a 2 speed kickback may be a good choice, or even an automatic 2 speed like I use most of the time.

Also, the 57mm 3G wheels sold here will take a 2.125 tire and you can use them without modifying your frame that originally took a balloon tire. Here's my 53 Schwinn ballooner with those wheels:

If we're talking about rims rather than complete wheels, I gotta say that Sun-Ringle makes some strong rims at a nice price that tend to build up easy, as the rims are pretty close to being both radially and laterally before you even lace'm.

Yeah I had set of those copper 3G ones as well. They seemed pretty solid. Thanks all your input.
