Where can I buy?

I'm coming over to the States in August. I'm after a cruiser frame and forks, aiming for minimilist big tyres / board racer look.
Can anyone recommend anywhere in Santa Monica that sells vintage frames. As it's really difficult to get stuff here.........

You should time your visit so that you can attend at least one big swap meet. At a good swap meet, you should be able to find virtually any part you need. Gary

Try starting a thread in the "Bike Talk" section. Something like..."California Swaps in August?" There are probably more people reading Bike Talk than in the How To section. California in the summer? I think you have a good chance at finding a swap meet during your visit. Gary

Both are about an hour or so from Santa Monica.
Pomona is HUGE, but it's vintage auto, motorcycle, bicycles, etc. Even has a seperate VW section. The swap meet alone can take 6-7 hours to walk through.

Topping's Long Beach Antique Motorcycle and Bicycle swap meet is much smaller, but it's only motorcycles and bikes, you can get in and out in 2 hours depending on how many vendors show up.

A couple hours to the South down in Cardiff By the Sea (should make you feel at home), my friend Eric has a bike shop with a bunch of vintage, more tank bikes than he shows on this page.

You can see the ocean from Eric's shop , lots of tourist stuff down here and a Sea World if she gets bored of the Tragic Kingdom.

I would try some Google searches for the LA and Orange County beach towns. Gotta be some more in there maybe contact these guys they do alot of rides and swap meets;
