Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building my first motored rat rod.
Does anyone know a cheap place to buy 3/4 in rod stock that is pre-slotted for a key?
Best I've found so far is like $30 for 3 feet but I only need less than a foot.

cheers

I tried tractor supply, and I've looked at mcmaster, grainger, etc.
Everybody has 3/4 inch stock but I can't find it with the key slot already cut.

I found the keyed shafts at McMaster is about 20 seconds... they're under "Power Transmission" (okay, I admit, I've spent a little too much time there...)

Well, I'm finding them now!

While I got you guys here. When spec'ing out a pulley are there any common materials to avoid for my high speed side (~3500 RPM)?
Would like to avoid a leg full of aluminum shrapnel.

Yeah if it says "Made in China" I wouldn't trust it.
