Wow.... Its been a long time. I've pulled my unfinished RRBO #8 bike down from the rafters. With the 2018 Sacramento Autorama coming up in February, I've decided to enter a couple of my bikes. This one needs finished though!
Yesterday I blew it all apart and addressed a couple issues, did some welding and began the paint process! All parts are now in primer and hanging for a few days to get good and hard before sanding.

I am scrapping the "Old Soul" title and will be using the original Hawthorne badge. Old Soul was a build off title.. since I didn't finish the bike for that build off, i'll retire that title.

Got most of the parts in paint. The frame is all thats left as of today. Its hanging now for a week while the primer dries nice & hard. I picked a Porsche 911 color called Graphite Blue. It has some pearls in it that look great in the sun. Very understated. The chain guard looks great with the 2018 hawthorne logo....

I want to add an internally geared three speed to this build. I was thinking of using a Sram i-motion3 and a Boxcar shifter. Any thoughts or experiences with Sram on here?

Didn't you have a cool "Old Soul" headbadge made up for that build?
Welcome back! Have fun!

Frame is painted, sanded and buffed. Looking great... no pics of it as it was too dark and lighting sucked. This bike had stainless & aluminum to be polished so I got to work on sanding it all smooth before hitting the buffing wheel.

Never even knew there was such a thing, but there it is! Those lightning bolts make it shockingly cool too!

It was dreamed up by guys that run coaster brakes on mountain trails and coaster brake challenges. They'd cook out all the grease! They say these heat syncs work great. I wont be bombing this bike on any coaster brake challenges, but the Shimano CBE-110 will stay cool and look COOL nonetheless!

I started this build in April of 2013... I'm glad I didn't give up on it...
I have a couple more things to tidy up still, but I couldn’t wait to get some pictures up. Probably my favorite build to date. Isn’t that how it usually goes? The newest is the favorite...

I’m going to wrap the Brooks grips with the leftover seat material and also wrap the body of the VDO speedometer in the same material.

It has come a long long way...
