Let’s see that Collegiate and a mama bear setup 😉

Then we have Mama Bear. These are from a Rollfast, and so far, they are the best fit (for me). Turns out, I will have to swap out the crank arms again (for the originals) because the geometry doesn't work as well when sitting. If I had the stock fork on it, I would keep the longer crank arms.

Then there was Papa Bear... this is kinda laughable. These bars are ridiculously oversized. If I raised up the seat and used the collegiate stem the fit is good as far as rideability.

This is an Ed Roth drawing come to life. Although I love the wild proportions (in the right setting), it's not the direction I want this build to go. The thing that bothers me the most is the gaping void between the bars when viewed from the front (the pic is at an angle, so you don't really see the full spacing). I happen to have a certain grail piece that I could incorporate for height balance *ahem* "SNYDER!" *ahem* "PILL!", but I could still drive a freight train between the handlebars.

Alright @Captain Awesome , this Bud's for you... Mama Bear with the Collegiate stem.

It works ok fit wise (better with the other stem), but the angle of the stem kinda fights the angle of the spring. So unless I flip it around to bring the bars in tighter (which I might), it's a pass due to aesthetic and no improvement with fit.

The first option looks nice with the original sissybar. I like the 24s too. Can we see it at a laid back angle? The tall sissy is hawt. Either way its looking good!

Just for clarification, the excerciser bars? Laid back how? Just tilted at an angle (toward rider)?

Word. I'd imagine it a more comfortable ride, but I'd just like to see what it looks like. =) Are the tall one's called exercisers or is that what you're expecting out of them? I want a pair but I'd be smashing mirrors with them.

Bobby, if I remember correctly, you have a 21.1 stem in there? I have this Schwinn stem from my Skinny build that would fit, and bring your bars (whichever ones you choose) back towards you and keep you backside in that 'bucket' of the 'naner. :nerd:

Let me know...

I used one on my Sears Spyder 'RaTsberry BuffeT' build. They pair well with apes.

@OddJob is the man

To me, collegiate stem goes down too close to the springs, creating a visual tension. I definitely prefer the original stem. The exerciser bars are too flat, they lack backsweep. I like Baby or Mama

Agreed. The visual was worth it but aesthetically it’s conflicted

That would be awesome! Because I used the Schwinn steertube, I'm locked into Schwinn options. I might have your stem and didn't know it was for a Schwinn. Let me check this evening. If not, I'll send you a PM. thanks @OddJob

The first pair I posted are from a Schwinn exerciser (smallest set). The large apes are comfortable, I'm just not sold on the aesthetic. I typically have them on my Pink Panther build with an underslung stear mount so they are riding at the same level as regular apes.

@OddJob I had a stem I wrestled out of a schwinn frame, but hadn't considered using it due to condition. I checked it again to see if it had the same pull back as the one you offered me.

It did, so as I was looking to see how much work was needed to clean it up, I noticed it is stamped WALD 314.

I didn't realize that it was compatible, or else I would have tried my nearly new WALD 314.

Ultimately, the fit still wasn't right for the placement of the bars (as a rider), so I'm going to flip the stem. Stay with me...

I know I just went on a rant about balance and proportions (sorry @The Renaissance Man ) but I promise you, I have a plan.

This bike…. Over the top. Awesome build!

That is a bugged out front end on Pink Panther. It looks dope by itself though the rider's aesthetic while curled up on a lowrider bicycle makes me laugh every time. I figured high and tilted a more natural ride.
