The first one is a Schwinn built in '40. It has the graphics that came out in '41 so it could be a Christmas '40 bike. It has the '40 frame that takes the big ugly tank. It looks like it has Lobdell rims. You can tell those because the holes in the rim for the spokes are really offset towards the outer edge. You see the Lobdell rims on deluxe bikes built in '41. The neck is a Wald "nutcracker" with the top bolt.(ouch! ) You should be able to find another pretty easy. Love that license plate. Holland MI.?? That Ace should clean up real nice.

The Corvette has the older style guard so is a '54-'59 model. Nice blue paint and decals on that one. Gary

Here are some picks of it cleaned up and rideable I can't belive how nice the paint is on this it's amazing.

Those are better pics and I can see the rims are not the Lobdells. Nice bike though. Black girls bikes made by Schwinn are not that common from the ones I've seen. I bead blasted a black '41 Schwinn boys frame once and the paint was amazing. It took forever to blast it off. I have no doubt we have gone downhill over the years with paint. After all, now it has to be so safe kids can eat it. Gary

Thanks for all the info on it Gary.and should thare be that much of a gap between the fender and tire or was that how the prewar bikes were made ? It looks like it could have a bigger tire on it? It rides realy nice any way.

It looks okay to me. Skip tooth chains kind of limit your wheel adjustment compared to the 1/2" pitch. Gary

Yea I'm not sure if I removed or added a link it woud make a difference I think thare would still have a gap. It just seems like a lot of room

Loosen up the rear drop out screw bolts and take out a link, that will pull the wheel closer into the drop out making the gap go away.

P.s. when doing this make sure you undo the screws pretty equally other wise your tire will be off set.
Nick.

Try what Nick said. If you do, you'll see the problem with skip tooth chains. "One link" of a skip tooth is like 2 links of a regular chain and your wheel will move quite a bit from removing "one". You may have enough room though. It is pretty good gap. Gary

Well I took a link out a did get a little room but if any thing it made the gap look more even all the way a round and if I took another link out I think the tire would rub on the frame and thanks for your help
