Feast your eyes on this! OFFICIAL 100% original...right down to the tires! The man I bought it from has the original receipt issued by the government when sold to his father. The tubes are holding air. I even have the tool bag. Serial #MG94023

No the head badge does not say "military" on it. I woke up this morning with "buyers remorse"...I paid a LOT of money for it. I'm now trying to get an accurate appraisal on the thing. Any suggestions who to turn to?

The CABE has a forum for Military Bicycles. I'd suggest posting it there for info. Ken Kowal, Mr. Columbia often weighs in on military bikes on that forum. I think the last one I saw on ebay which was not original paint sold for $1600 but have seen them go for more than that. The CABE Military Forum is at:

BTW: The head badge would not have "military' on it. Only the WWI Columbia Military bike head badges circa 1918/1919 had military on them. The MG serial number denotes it as a military issue model.

Thanks everyone for the replies and information. Me, the bike, and the seller are in Maryland. According to the seller, the receipt is in California. When he returns there he will send it to me....when he finds it. You're right 1 beaglebaby, this bike is just perfect as it sits. This is the sort of thing one might see on display in a museum. What looks like white paint on the front fender is actually a beam of sunshine, the bike is all green. There are some minor dents to the rear fender, but that's the nature of things like this.

I saw a Military Columbia badge on one of the bikes here on the forum and I thought all WW2 Columbia military bikes had them. Now I know! Haven't ever seen or heard of a WW1 Columbia. Wouldn't it be kinda hard to ride a bike in a trench? Gary
