I like this bike because I have managed to create something like a style of bike that was popular in the US but almost non-existent in the UK. We had the Raleigh Chopper, but that was the type of bike where the frame was created to suit the style rather than building the style onto an earlier style of bike.
Whatever, I never had a Chopper, but now I have something like it
It has been fun riding it up and down the road on a quiet sunday, in between the occasional combine harvesters.
I might level out the seat, or maybe not. I rode for years with the seat sloping, partly because it seem to make it easier to ride without any hands on the handlebars. I was truly excellent at riding without touching the handlebars.
The single gear was a great choice - it felt a little reluctant to engage when I first got on the bike, but it soon got its act together and has not been a problem since.
Come thursday, I will be off work for about three weeks, I can see that I will be riding this a lot around the village!
Oh, and the barns are all mine
