    Missing screw, trouble finding replacement

Great, thanks for the idea. I mean it HAS to be either a standard fine or corse or metric standard right? I'll just get several and try them out, better than disassembling the fork and cleaning it up to bring in. Plus I've already got lots of touch up spots just from assembly after paint...

    Missing screw, trouble finding replacement

I wasn't thinking about taking the fork off since I just re-greased the head bearings - you are right though, that is the only way. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Missing screw, trouble finding replacement

For those of you who aren't tired of me posting every time I have a problem, looking for help again. I should have been more careful during disassembly cause I can't find the screw that goes into the bottom side of the fork holding the front fender on. I can definitely see a couple threads...

Bike shop said they can't remove my rear sprocket...help!!

I got it, thank you guys so much!! Now for that bike shop, I'm going to find someone else to lace up the wheels...any professional bike shop that couldn't figure this out and wasn't willing to help me figure it out doesn't deserve my business! Here is a picture of "Betty Lou" so far: Sent...

Bike shop said they can't remove my rear sprocket...help!!

The problem is I can't lace it up until I get that ring off - with that rear sprocket on there you can't thread a spoke into the hub. Ideas at getting the sprocket off? Monark - yes, please that would be awesome if you could scan and send to me. Thank you so much! [email protected]...

Bike shop said they can't remove my rear sprocket...help!!

The spokes on my '54 Hawthorn were so rusted I had to cut them to remove the rim to refinish it. I got the rims done and brought them into my local shop to get re-laced and they called me tonight saying they couldn't find a way to remove my rear sprocket to lace up the wheels. I'm stuck, any...

    Paint dimples...Please help!

You guys rock, thanks for your help...I had no idea there could still be some greese and other contaminates even though it felt and looked like it was clean. Took some denatured alcohol and wiped them a few time and my paint went on smooth. Thanks again!

    Paint dimples...Please help!

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm getting paint dimples that I can't stop from forming when using can spray paint. I first sanded then primered this piece of metal. When I sprayed the paint and a little with the primer, it made these dimples I couldn't stop. Any ideas on why this is...

How did you prep the bars before painting? Did you get the chrome off first, if so, how? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Primer, sanding, repeat...advice please

I'll have to see what kind of clear coat they gave me at the auto shop. I know they said that once I spray my flat clear coat the can has to be used within 48 hours or something like that. I'll have to call them back and make sure a novice can spray the flat clear coat (I'm doing rat rod flat...

    Primer, sanding, repeat...advice please

I've got some spots on some rims and fenders that aren't bad enough for bondo so I was planning on using a building or filler primer on them. I was planning on spraying on the primer, sanding and doing this as many times as needed to cover the scratches and small imperfections. Here are my...

    Best spray paint?

I recently went to an auto shop and they were able to put their custom paint in a can for me. Expensive, but if you're looking for a quality paint job that will last I think the paint is worth the money Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Removing original paint is kicking my butt

Rusty - thanks, easily came out drilling through the center, I'm also gonna take your advice and put a rivet back in there. Barto - I'm almost there, so close now I think I'll keep at it. You are right though, it had been a complete mess! Luke - thanks, I got me a angle grinder and a wire...

Removing original paint is kicking my butt

Thanks guys, I'm going to get an electric wire brush like Luke posted and I think Us564 was talking about the same thing. 2 more issues I'm having as of today: 1. The thin pieces of metal that hold the fenders on are really hard to sand and they are not screwed into the fender but riveted -...

Removing original paint is kicking my butt

Looking for experience in what is the best way to remove the original paint from my '54 Hawthorne. I've tried lots of things and I'm currently using 3 different methods and I've only been mildly successful. So far I've been spraying a paint remover on it, using a portable abrasive blaster kit...

    1954 Hawthorne?

I was told when I bought it they thought it was a 1954 Hawthorne...trying to validate that. I know the tanks are not the right year and it's missing the light. https://instagram.com/p/-ioUB1Ka6l/ https://instagram.com/p/-ioQcYKa6c/

    Hello from NorCal

Thanks for the heads up on the paint stripper, I had no idea that existed! Lots of small impossible to reach with brush or sandpaper on my forks - I just watched a couple YouTube videos and I'll be using that. As for the pics, I'm not sure I'm understanding how the formatting works on the...
