Handlebars ready and new cranks arrived. Once the fork shows up I can mock it up to check the height and size of everything.

I thought I could change out the chainwheel if 52 teeth was too much, but this is a different size from all my other chainwheels.

I'll bet that service is cheaper than in the US as well
I tip the guys 100% and still spend only about 5 bucks for a pair of wheels. No waiting, everything done in a couple hours.
Welding work is also different here. This guy comes to the house, and also charges less then 5 bucks for a job.

This frame is from the unused bunch I bought from the junkshop a few years ago. They charged me 5 bucks a frame and were surprised when I agreed and bought 6 or 7 frames. This is 3 of them, now are Bulldog, Orange Crusher, and 1901 Mixte.

They like to see me show up. Most of their truing is done on the cheap new chinese bikes that come in for resale, there's no tip then.

I mocked up what I have to this point. The workbench is 6 feet long.

There's just enough clearance between the crank and front wheel. That's not the fork I'll use but close to it.

I like the blackwall better than the whitewall, so the rear will be blackwall too. I clamped the seat near where it will go just to get an idea.

The new pedals and red hubs showed up. Also the heavy wire wheel for the angle grinder. That should strip the old paint off easily and make a big mess of the shop. I'm going to get the bike rideable before I do any more paint stripping.

The new fork arrived and looks like it will work fine.

Got the wheels laced up so I can put Frankenscoot back together. Time to go back to the shop for more truing and get some skinny inner tubes.

The bike is coming along great! I love watching your local guys working, and so cheap. I think it would be hard for me to do a welding project using less than $5 of materials and consumables. Your builds are always really creative and fun.

I tried these stripper wheels on my angle grinder and they work great for stripping paint, rust, stickers. Fast too.

The axle was a hair too wide for the fork ends.

The threads can be filed down slightly to drop it in, but I used an old school method. This works as long as the axle has a snug fit in the fork ends. A rubber mallet is also a necessity. Leave the nuts on to take the mallet strikes, not the bare axle.

Later, when you work on it, just line up the flat spots on the axle when you drop it back in..

Going at it caveman-style! I like it!

My blackwall rear tire should show up anytime. The online ordering here is like Amazon, but it's all COD. You pay when you receive the item, but you can't open the package to check it. You need to take a video to prove any damage. Returns aren't hard to do and the sellers do pretty good to keep their reviews high.

I estimated how much chain this build will need. A search of the internet didn't show any info, although this frame is a clone of an Easy Racer, there are thousands of them. Mostly just trying to sell the chain guides.

It needs to be 130" long, or 246 links. I'll have to buy 3 new chains unless I splice together all the odd chains I have. All the Easy Racers I've seen use some kind of roller or tensioner midway on the lower half of the chain. I have 2 tensioners that I'll have to figure how to mount.

:21: :21: :21: :21: @3 chains for $10, bro you make the best wheels!
It's like on Amazon, the same product might be offered at a discount if you keep hunting. I used to do that for tires back in the states and got some great deals.

I worked on the seat mount today. I have some different sized U clamps ordered and plan to use one to clamp the salvaged BB to the frame.
I made up some sleeves from part of the seat tube of that same donor frame to strengthen the frame where it will attach. The two pieces fit nice and snugly.
I'm hoping it will be stout enough without having to add braces. I also found my gold chain tensioner while digging for tubing.

I was able to use a gadget for my angle grinder I bought last year and mounted to a piece of wood. It worked great.
