Congrats on being volunteer of the year!

Thanks guys.

Here is nice shot from the other day. The leaves are in good color right now. This was on my way to my son's Lacrosse game. It is in one the big parks downtown.

We camped with the kids a few weeks ago at Bruneau Dunes. Nice place to ride with kids on the roads. More pics of Bruneau Dunes here

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Owyhee Upland Tour

I just got back from a 103 miles ride down in the Owyhee Desert. I went with 14 other people, some old friends, some new friends. The weather was perfect except that last 17 miles into a 20-30 mile headwind. We did bring a chase vehicle as there no services or water for 100 miles, plus we need a cooler for after ride refreshments.
You will see a variety of bikes: Fatbikes, touring bikes, bike with suspension and my vintage Muddy Fox
I will let the pictures do the talking.

Cool ride pictures!! Looks like you had quite the adventure

Thanks, I did not take them....I always make sure to go with someone with a nicer camera than me.

Here is a cool video that somebody else from the trip made. (click picture)

Looks like it was a great time. Did you ride out and back, a loop or shuttle back?
We just road one way. My pickup with the trailer came along as did another car, that came later on the first day. The other people got picked up and dropped off at the start and end points by another vehicle or two.

Here is the route

There are cool places all over.... I think New England would be a fun place to ride too.

True, NE is a nice place to tour, and I've done a bunch of it, like the Adirondaks, and a five state tour in 7 days, but there's something so alluring about those pictures, the scenery, and the style of bikes.... so different than here, and looks so peaceful. I'm quite envious. I always enjoy your outdoors posts.

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Owyhee Upland Tour- 6/4/13 pg2

Thanks. The wide open spaces of the West do make for lots of varied riding. I guess that is what happens when the Federal government owns 63% of the state.

Re: My Rides in and around Boise.

We went on a "camping" trip this past weekend to escape the blistering heat. We went up to Silver Creek near Silver Creek Plunge about 2 hours from Boise. I have been most places within 2 hours of Boise but never to Silver Creek. I brought the bikes mostly for the kids to ride around the campground but we also found a nice short ride up the road to Peace Creek Trail. It was a nice singletrack with a little up hill but challenging for the boys.

- "camping" is not accurate because I have a trailer but I can't bring myself to say RV'ing.
- The guy that looks like me is my twin brother.

It was still hot....so we set up for the afternoon by the creek.

Looks like a great place to ride and with fun people!
Cooling your "tootsies" in stream sounds like a perfect end to a ride

Wish we lived just a couple hours from some place like that. Bet the boys had fun on the singletrack.
I am lucky to live 2 hours from many cool places.
