I love old building timbers. Close grain, no knots, super dried out and stable. I have a bunch I got out of a commercial shed that was torn down. Great wood to work with. I love your wood tank. Is this a sandwich job with the interior hollow?
Thanks..! your not lying it’s great wood to work with. The tank was a joy to make and it is hollow on the inside.

This bike is turning out great. Love the pseudo motor and exhaust pipe. With bars that low and the proper gearing you should be able to keep up with just about anyone on the bike trail. I love that period bike reflector. Not too many of those out there.
Thank you I appreciate you looking and the positive feedback. So it’s kinda funny the neighbor came over to grab some PVC and saw it and thought it was a real motorcycle at first lol. The reflector has been sitting in my parts box for 2 years, so I’m happy to find a good home for it.!

So nothing crazy but I did get my McCauley chain guard mocked up today. I got really lucky because the original paint of it just happens to be basically a exact match to Rocky. I’m also toying around with a set of teardrop style hubcaps for the front. I was hoping to get the exhaust done on the other side but my plumbing box was one elbow short..! So I will have to make a trip to the hardware store during the week for that. On the plus side tho I found my antique 30s railroad sign glass reflectors and the size is perfect and pops right into the end of the exhaust! I love it when that stuff happens 😀

When parts start fitting themselves to the build you are really 'in the zone'!

That guard match, the reflectors sliding right in, prime examples. I got only two words for this build:
Award winning.

Thanks OddJob, this has been a really great experience ! I really did laugh to myself when the reflector pushed in with a pressed fit feel lol

Looks like Rocky is just about done! It seems all that's missing is a chain. You did a great job putting that bike together, and your kid did a great job naming it! Well done!
Thanks for following the build and always having nice things to say. Your right about almost being done, I have a few small things to finish up on it. I need to find a chain like you said, get the rear fender braces bolted in and also the rear hub doesn't have any guts in it. Now that I am thinking about it tho, I'm not sure I like the crank being that clean and shiny? I'm glad we are talking about this lol...!

My pleasure! Maybe you could use some coarse steel wool or some fine sandpaper to give the crank more of a brushed look? Wouldn't make it less clean, but it could tone down the shine.
