Hello everyone!
I’d like to preface by saying I am not well versed or knowledgeable in bikes or trikes whatsoever. However, I have been wanting to get a vintage trike for a few years now.
I stumbled upon this thing on Facebook marketplace and was immediately in love with it. It looks from the pictures to be in INCREDIBLE condition for the age, and a little searching on this forum has led me to believe that it’s probably from the 60s or 70s.
I’m also fairly certain that I’m basically robbing this poor woman. She had it listed for $75, I offered $100 to get her to skip over the 17 people who messaged her before me and she accepted. I’ll be going to pick it up this afternoon and will hopefully be able to get a more specific manufacturing year once I have the serial number.
So here are my few questions:
1. Does anyone know a lot about these? Anything in particular that gives away information about the age, model, etc. that you can see in the pictures?
2. Is this vintage enough that I should clean it up and keep mostly original? Or should I sandblast it and paint it candy apple red and throw a comfy bench seat in place of the basket for my kids to ride on?
3. Did I get an amazing deal on this trike at $100 for the condition, or did I overpay?
I greatly look forward to the discussion, and thanks for welcoming me to the community!
Peter
