Personally I feel it has to be stripped down as any "racer" would be. Usually you need to lean the seat way back and down as to be in the "race" position. Anything that doesn't "need" to be on the bike shouldn't be there. A number plate helps. A frame of the right period helps as does a motor of some sort. Just my two cents. So to answer your question, no, it takes more than flipping your bars upside down to make it a board track racer. Of course nothing is stopping you from flippin' those buggers and calling it one now is there

So basically any bike is a board tracker as long as your handlebars are installed upside down?
Here is my Micargi / Indian build. I know, the two shouldn't be said in the same sentence, but take a look anyhow. The tank is 70's Indian Mx, the rearview is from a '43 Indian. Motor is a Skyhawk w/ SBP expansion chamber & air filter, Indian petcock & homemade fuel lines. Vintage 70's headlamp & camera/saddle bag, 50's presto extinguisher, 1960 NJ plate, Brooks 135 saddle, homemade rear led taillight, etc.
I'm constantly tweaking and upgrading things on the build, just completed some custom exhaust tensioners & a simple spring loaded chain tensioner, picked up a lot of tips from this & other sites. I have my own private race track that I visit almost every evening after ten PM, it's called the Living Spaces parking lot
