So this little black cap with the gold circle… never on the derailleur. Pop off pretty easy. But are correct and should be there. The problem: these Huret Allvit derailleurs were used by Schwinn. So anything Schwinn is going to be ridiculous. How much do you think I paid for that cap? $1? No. $5? No… that $5 would be expensive. How about…

$20

I felt violated.

My next project is murry. I’m not sure of the color or the style. It’s a basket case, I’m assuming single speed. My question is about the shifter you had re chromed. Was it re chromed or chome painted?? I have that shifter in a murry formost and that the only unsave able part.

It was re-chromed. But the business that did it went out of business, and I don't have a new source.

Ok thanks. I’ve seen some plastic parts that were sprayed chrome. Not like spray can chrome. It looks like real chrome. There is a place in Ohio that does it. The bike came out great.

Yes, modern plastic chrome systems is spray. If you could pass along the name of the business in Ohio I'd appreciate it.
