    Hendee racer.

Not much progress. Spent to much time playing with other projects this weekend! Oh, and I had to work Saturday :( My jig for bending the rear seat stay didn't work as well as I hoped. The wood just burned away where it made the hardest contact with the rod.

    1945 Schwinn "The World"

I got this from a northern Mich junk yard last year. It was sitting outside at my house and I started feeling sorry for it! I spent part of yesterday and today cleaning and greasing the BB and the hubs. The wheels did not come on it, but work well. They have New Departure hubs with the...

    55 Flying Star

Cool bike Hooch! I don't think I have ever seen one before. I have that same 2spd on a Evans. The guy I bought it from told me "that brake doesn't work very well"!

    My Karfer tribute!

I have been holding onto this frame for a while now... just waiting for the time and money to build a bike like Karfer's Higgins. Well the stars are starting to align and I've started the build. I don't even remember where I bought the frame, but I had it chemically striped about a year ago...

    Hendee racer.

Some more progress pictures. I got the bars welded after making some additional pieces and using a longer center portion. I had to sacrifice another pair of bars for that. I started building the bike in CAD so I can make patterns for the tank and work out size etc... I also picked up some...

    I'm Done

Congrats! If you are not sure what you want to do go to a community college and get some of your general studies classes out of the way. Just make sure the credits transfer to other schools. A lot of the "colleges" advertising in the Detroit area are not accredited. They are just trying to...

Some more progress. Which sprocket should I use?

I am leaning towards black. The red is nice, but the black will give it maximum contrast with the tires and tank graphic. I may go with a alternate tank graphic I found a picture of on the net.

    Hendee racer.

Starting to collect more of the pieces. Got my 700x40c tires for the 28" rims. I have a front sprocket on the way and I bought a Brooks seat with a 20% off coupon from Nashbar. Sunday I spent some quality time with the grinder and a file removing unwanted guides, tabs and brackets.

    Super clean Hawthorne.

Seat looks to be the same vintage as the bike (judging from patina) although maybe not original to the bike. It has a odd flesh color to it. The badge is riveted on, but thin metal and not as nice as earlier examples.

karfer vs. sensor: a.k.a the beer build off

Both bikes are looking great. Can't wait to see them finished!

    Super clean Hawthorne.

My parents found this for me at a garage sale. I'm guessing early 60s? Like new except for some chips and scratches.
