The slotted ones were used as late as 1940…'40 through early postwar used same guard without slots.

With the big frame tubes I'd say it's ~1998 or later, probably ~2000. Somewhere on it there is probably a Pacific Cycles, or made in China, sticker (2000+)...if not, it probably says assembled in USA. If it says assembled, probably '98 or '99.

I only knew the name in regards to the Muntz Jet...just read a synopsis of his careers and background. Super impressive.

I have a '63 1/2 Ford Galaxie that has a quadraphonic amplifier behind the backseat and I can see where the optional phonograph used to be installed under the dash. A real rocking machine in '63!

For that price, I would be on the phone grabbing my coat and keys and headin' for the jeep!

Sure would love to run across one of those floating hubs someday. :blush:

Last couple months of models bought... ...the bottom two were at a local automotive swapmeet today.

I forgot about the circle SE...it does appear that they started ~'59. I think it is a '58 model year built at the end of '57. 1959 Rollfast catalog... ...you can clearly see the cantilever tubes attach to the 1pc seat stay loop. This feature was retained in subsequent years. 1958 Rollfast...

Hey Ulu... Picked these up today... should be Schwinn, haven't measured but probably 22". No rust no pits good shine. Bars or bars/stem...no grips.

What a loss, Dave...that bike was a time capsule. Pitney needs a serious attitude adjustment.

I believe '58 is the first year other manufacturers were able to make Schwinn style cantilever frames (patent expired).
