    Schwinn double bar Klunker build

That frame is a DX, going by the curved second bar. There should be a serial number on the left dropout which will give the bike's year.

    STBO Stirrup: the Hornets' Nest

They spring right back where they were originally because the tubing is strong. I would take the 2 x 4 and slide it up to where the tire sits then hammer it foward, which widens the dropouts considerably. On that frame I would line up the 2 x 4 between the seat stays and chain stays at the same...

Looking for the year for this men's Firestone.

It's got the AMF masterweld emblem on the seat tube. Looks good it's all there from the looks of it.

Looking for the year for this men's Firestone.

That's an AMF made Firestone. H there on the dropout shows it is 1958.

The seat finally made it. It's not NOS, it looks nice and new. Can't pronounce the name. It's just what I like, comfortable. They had one more left so I ordered it too. 400 pesos, just over seven dollars.

    1962 step thru rollfast?

I don't think Rollfast had high bars and banana seats as early as 62. The frame looks to be a 62 and the serial number matches up. Everything else is added, someone made a pig bike. So it's a 1962 20" step through frame with misc. parts.

    What's cooking?

A good day for a bike ride after weeks of rain, but I've been roped into a day at a waterfall up in the mountains. A big tray of Pancit won't last long.

I'm brushing on thinned black acrylic paint, then lightly sanding or rubbing with a wet sponge when it sets, to further thin it out. Then I'll do more if it needs more, if it even works in the first place. The only spray I can use here is clearcoat. I've got no place to spray, but I could make...

I like the weathered bare metal, so I'm going to try to get the fork to match instead of being chrome. My plan is to wire brush it enough so paint will stick then use thinned out black paint to get the same shade as the frame. I might black out the logo on the cranks also. I'm still waiting on...

    Chrome Molly

My shop is probably more sanitary than those places. That's where I went back to work on the v brake. I was doing all the adjustments right, it was the brake shoes that were the problem. They had too much curve for the rim. I used a good used set of shoes that matched the curve of the rim and...

"I wonder if one of the Moderaters could transfer this thread over to the Builds section." Never mind I'll continue on with it right here. I painted the lugs and outlined them in gold, matches the spokes.

I definitely will finish it, it just won't be an entry in the build off. All I have left to do is decide how to accent the lugs, bare with gold outline or black with gold outline. I wonder if one of the Moderaters could transfer this thread over to the Builds section.

"Uppermost "top" tube must not be more than 50% of the way up the seat tube" I thought it was pretty close to the limit, but I measured it and found the frame to be 19", and the height of the top bars just over 11". That puts it way out of step thru range. Compared to other Mixte frames it's...

    STBO Stirrup: the Hornets' Nest

I was going by this decal, thinking it was a Sears emblem. I looked for a 66 Western Flyer and now see it's a Western Flyer emblem on the seat tube. I stand corrected.

I went for a ride this morning and it rides great. The gear ratios are just right for me and the shifting is smooth. The brakes are excellent and I was able to lock up the rear easily. The light weight and 700c wheels make it an excellent ride. This is my best riding bike. That's the good...

    STBO Stirrup: the Hornets' Nest

That's not a Western Flyer but it could have been, it's the same Murray frame they used on Western Flyers. So it's not a big issue that it's a Sears bike going by the label on the seat tube. Sears used a 502 number but yours is clearly a Murray number M06 is 1966 and the X10 was used by Western...

    Junk build

The Yellow Tiger has gone to a new home. My niece and her young family are moving to a new neighborhood that is flat and wanted a bike. Now I have room for another bike!
