    Tryke this on for size

This is getting more and more interesting! I need more pics or even a video. It looked welded on to me. And how you changed from internally geared to a derailleur is of great interest. Is the rear end a kit? Any idea what it is called? How out of true are the wheels? I’m...

    Tryke this on for size

I just looked at the pictures in your other thread. Cool trike. Now I do want one! Do you know the history of it? Look like someone built it out of an old mountain bike. Cool gear box. How bad are the wheels? They didn’t look too bad in the pictures.

    Tryke this on for size

I am making a mental note to never work on a trike. I never have. There have been others in this site with similar trike problems. I don’t recall if they were ever resolved. I believe the rear wheels on trikes take a lot of sideways force. The rims are likely bent. My thought is to...

    STBO Ms. Higgins

Nice! Who made that frame? Doesn’t look like a Murray to me.

    STBO Mamachari

Just put a long bolt straight through there to hold it all together. Nice and tight. Then tap with a mallet. Or With everything bolted as shown. Line up the wrench handle just an inch or two below the chain stay. Then wrest the bottom bracket on the floor. Then step on the chainstay...

2024 MBBO & STBO - Are you in?

I suppose I could be better about posting more. I probably only even mention 1 out of 5 bikes I build or repair on this site. There is only so much time and many are just rebuilds of average bikes. It is actually amazing how many decent bikes were never assembled properly to begin with...

2024 MBBO & STBO - Are you in?

I am planning to do a step thru, but things are really busy here. I have 5 bikes in the garage to repair that belong to friends and neighbors. Word is out that JJ fixes bikes and it’s hard to keep up. I also accepted a separation package from my employer. It was voluntary. After 18...

    Armstrong - Secret Locking Mechanism

Oh. I probably just want to follow along and look at pictures. It is definitely the kind of bike I would buy if it was local and priced low. The truth is I have too many now.

To 3/32nd, or to not 3/32nd?

I think the issue is the outer width of the chain. My understanding is 1/8 and 3/32 is measuring the inner width. (The difference of inner width is 1/32) The difference in the outer width may be more significant. To me the question is whether the outer width will fit between the cogs of...

    Armstrong - Secret Locking Mechanism

I’m not 100% sure, but it was probably made by Raleigh. In which case most of the threading is not compatible with standard bike parts. Do your best to save all the parts. These threads look damaged. Is that preventing you from unscrewing the las piece of the headset?

    Armstrong - Secret Locking Mechanism

I am very interested in this bike though! Can I get a picture of the entire bike? Do you know the age? The “made in England” makes me think it was made by Raleigh. 3 speed?

    Armstrong - Secret Locking Mechanism

I’m confused about what is going on. Is the stem stuck? Looks like you are trying to remove the headset. The stem needs to be removed first. Or am I not understanding the question?

Dang it! I already have at least 3 step thrus to choose from. Then this pops up. Somebody tell me I have a problem and that I actually don’t need to buy this. I’m not sure I can resist.

I agree. I don’t think the price is outrageous. I would consider buying it if it was close.
