    1940s BMX?

I grew up in the 50s and denim pants is all we wore. They came in one inseam size and you rolled the cuffs to fit. Cuffs were also a useful device to sneak liver away from the dinner table to be flushed down the toilet. Robert

What are the coolest bikes you've ever ridden?

My Bikes, of course! Both of these are very comfortable to ride - the '49 CWC with the Shockmaster Fork rides like a Cadillac as we all know and the Dyno with 3" Tires absorbs all the turbulance I thought I'd get off the road surface. Either one works for me! Robert RRBBO5 Entry "CWC-1" 1949...

    1940s BMX?

I keep trying to tell everyone how well built Cleveland Welding bikes are - the kid in the first four pics makes my point for me! Thanks for the great pics! Robert

    Help!!!

Hi! Yes, you described it perfectly - when I took the end plug and outer sleeve off there is a very flexible rubber liner left with the opposite end piece still attached. It's because the liner is such a flexible rubber that it won't bang right off like stiffer material grips - these suckers...

    Help!!!

OK, I'm old and old fashion and I cannot figure out how to get these confounded modern grips off! Usually I use a rag to protect the handlebar, fit an adjustable wrench to the bar up against the grip and whack it off with a mallet. Last time I tried this style grip I gave up and trashed them but...

    A little help.

How about a Worksman? They come with Heavy Duty everything but still look like a cruiser! Maybe someone will post some pics so you can get an idea. Or better yet go directly to their site and check them out! Good Luck! Robert http://www.worksmancycles.com/

First Fresh Find Post In A Long Time

I've been watching a Craig's List Ad for this bike the last year and a half as it lowered $150 total in price. Even though I haven't seen the listing lately I had kept the contact info and gave the guy a ring - it was still for sale. We set up a time and got together today. We talked for 1 1/2...

2.4" Maxxis Holy Rollers (24") for $15.99 shipped

I received my tires and much to my surprise the have a maximum inflation rating of 65psi!!! That's great news for me and a heck of a deal for 65psi tires - they are now keepers. That 24" CWC frame is starting to look a little better. Thanks again for the heads up! Robert

    Alchemist Custom Bicycles is Born!

Re: Alchemy Custom Bicycles is Born! Yea, "Alchemist" can conjour up a lot of different images - a mad bike scientist in a bicycle lab! Has a lot of Logo Potential. Too bad your wife has veto priveledges - oops, did I say that out loud - just kidding! Go with your gut and try not to overthink...

    CWC question..Answered

Re: CWC question. Hi Jim! They can vary a little in length but for your early 50s frame 2 1/4" in total length tip to tip is what you want. I've seen adjusting screws in 4 different thread sizes so be sure to get the standard CWC 1/4" x 20tpi. Also, you will see them listed on ebay for as much...

How many bikes do you own?

I have 29 Total Bikes. As near as I can tell it will probably remain right around 30 from now on. Some of these will be chopped up for parts or projects and I'll still pick up a few more but I guess this will ultimately be my average. It takes one half of a two car garage, a back yard storage...

    Early '50s AMF Roadmaster

Fantastic Score on the CWC Luxury Liner - very rare to find one with the Head Light still present! There is still a lot you can do w/ the head light. It's just a Delta Softball Light with a fin added. You could swap guts w/ one in better shape or convert it to something much brighter in the LED...
