I believe that these hubs were made by Musselman; (though it could have been Mattatuck? I'm not sure about that). If it is a Musselman hub, I believe there is a way to date those, though I don't remember. It may be as simple as a date stamped on the hub shell.

I think the chrome guard could be period, and may actually be correct; I couldn't tell you who made it or what manufacturers used them on bikes (if any did). It could also be a generic replacement, somewhat like a Wald. Some bikes may have come stock with it, I'm just not certain. I think the...
