The straight springer struts are a prewar thing. -Adam

    Free Spirit women's

Yes, Puch was the main supplier for Sears' lightweights, from the mid '50s through the late '70s at least. I'm not sure if these are, being newer, but it's possible. -Adam

    AMF Shelby Explorers

AMF bought Cleveland Welding Co, and Shelby, in the early '50s. They continued using the Shelby name into the early '60s, when yours were made. -Adam

    BANG! lesson learned...

Happened to me when I had my apartment at the beach 20 something years ago. And I parked my '57 Schwinn behind the couch. Of course, it blew at 2 am, I couldn't figure out what happened until I went to pull the bike out the next week! Also happened to a 31" tire on my Jeep, at 10pm. -Adam

    What bike is this??

It may have the reverse year code stamped on the BB. Something like '45 SN' would be a '54, letters are unknown. ~Adam

    Late 40’s Shelby

Looks like a '52 A' model, probably has a tag on the BB, something like 'No. 49' would be a '49. ~Adan

    Help I.D. a Monark Silver King & a Firestone??

I believe Snyder took over Firestone's bike line in '58, as Monark was bought out by Huffy in '57. One of the Evolution of the Bicycle books has a '59 dated Firestone ad, with all Snyder built bikes. By '64 or so, you start seeing Huffy built bikes, going into the 'Firestone 500' models. ~Adam

    Found 1950's Straight Bar Frame

Schwinn serials were stamped on the BB until part way through '52, when they moved to the rear dropout. There was also a middleweight straight bar frame. The rear frame stays are narrower than a ballooner. -Adam

    Columbia Skip Tooth Cruiser

It's a franken bike. The tank is late '40s-early '50s, chain ring is Shelby, frame is '30s, and I'm not sure what it is! -Adam

What did my wife buy for herself?

Definitely late '50s AMF, note the inset 'ears' for the rear fender braces, on the rear dropouts. That chain ring could be Huffy, but there is a cwc ring that's almost identical, used from early '50s to early '60s. -Adam

    Any Info?

That's known as a 'convertible', the best known being Schwinn's Bantam. Yours may say where it was made. Not any collector interest on these. -Adam

    Big Collection Valuation Questions

THAT is a major task! Looks to be mostly '60s-'70s middleweights, and a lot of girls' bikes. The only one I think would bring over $150 is the Panther III, which could go $3-400 if the tank isn't rotten. The green Iverson Charger might be notable. -Adam
