Elgin Offroad: Klunked Out BMX Hybrid

Man, that's a thing of beauty! Everything's just right, I'm lovin' your style! I would be afraid to ruin that paint job riding through dirt though, hehehe. Do you have plans on abusing it? ;-)

    Silverio

Ok, so here's Silverio's new look (what my wife and I have been calling him these days). Got the bar from my donor bike (my klunker build) and chopped it off and replaced the grips. Also, got rid of the speedo to make it more streamlined and added a front fender for extra bling, hehehe.

Looking good, looks like a fun ride!

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

Sweet ride dude and I'd love to ride in that terrain, you're lucky! We on the other hand have to go out of our way to find some dirt around here, meanwhile we'll just have to make do with construction sites and potholes :-D

Guess who's in the latest edition of FHM Philippines? Nope, I wasn't in a bikini ;-)

I totally agree! Growing up into adulthood in the early 90's with no the internet then all of a sudden having access to the rest of the world/even making a living out of this technology still amazes me! It's MAGIC! :-)

    lets see those bedroom bikes

Hahaha, I thought I was the only one hanging frames and forks in the bedroom. I don't paint them in it though, I just bring them in at night to avoid people bumping into them in the garage during the drying period.

Here are the latest photos of the build with some extras: New chain to match my chain ring and pedals, plus new bars! Again, I was lucky to find these pair. They're narrower than the MX bars I spotted but they feel good and perfect for zipping between jeepneys and cars in Manila's traffic :cool2:

Thanks! Oh yes, Kunkers sure have an awesome style and tons of fun to ride. I have raised the seat a few inches up to where I'm tiptoeing but still relaxed when I'm riding it. It's just an awesome everyday ride! Be sure to post pics of your build :)

How do you store your bike collection?

Cool idea hanging the bikes from the from front tire! I'm stealing that! Also, is that a hanging bunk bed with the hula skirt curtains? I'm also stealing that for when the wife throws me out of the house for spending too much time with "my babies"

Guess who's in the latest edition of FHM Philippines? Nope, I wasn't in a bikini ;-)

So, me and my buddies from Baywalk Beach Cruisers bike club got featured in FHM, Philippines' February 2015 issue. The photographer they sent took a bunch of photos and I was one of the lucky ones who got my board track build, Caridad and my ugly mug in the final layout! The article was about...

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

Hi guys, I was finally able to take photos of the motocross bars I spotted. Upon closer inspection the one I wanted were actually in light red, so it kinda looks pinkish instead of silver ...me and my bad eyesight :banghead:. I also suspect those bars to be knock-off Renthals, still a decent...

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

I'm currently living in the Philippines. There are two bars left, one similar to this with a different colored cross bar pad, planning to get it and another in black without the padding. I'm thinking other shops may have them as well. I'll go scout and ask around if I can get more to send you...

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

I spotted these motocross Renthal bars for about $9 at a shop near our house (I'm really diggin' the aesthetic of the bolted on crossbars). Do you guy think it will look good on this build? I'll probably ditch the foam padding though.

    Beautiful bike, nice and simple.

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

Thanks bro, and yeah I have to because it means more builds for me in the future! hahaha! As of last night, I think I'll be able to raise the seat sooner as she finds the bike too tough/masculine. I'm glad my wife is such a girly girl! :dance2:

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

Hahaha, yeah I'm not very tall being at 5'3". I am comfortable having the seat raised a few more inches but I have to have it at this height initially because the Mrs. (my boss and finance manager, she's only 5') must be able to break in each new bike I build until she tires of them and goes...

It's Klunkin' time...gotta find me some dirt!

Thank you very much sir! I haven't had much luck finding reliable caliper brakes, so I just kinda left them out. Also, I might not be going down mountains anytime soon as I need to get in shape first for that, haha! Just gonna be riding dirt roads for now. I was lucky to find those MX alloy...

    Silverio

Yeah I was thinking about the same thing about the saddle. The size I'm going to use is exactly the same size on this other 20" build of mine, which I think kinda looks ok. I hope it works with this frame though :)
