If it looks like this one, the wheel can be replaced. It just bolts on. I'm not sure how available just the wheel is. This dynamo no longer works but the wheel is great. Your welcome to it. PM me if you want it.][/img]
Thanks everyone for all the great info on my new find. I also found the re-welding to be odd. The few fillet brass braze welds that were untouched were in perfect condition. I suspect the rewelds were a good intention gone awry! Since I have only the frame and forks I would atleast like to get...
I was cruzin my twin top tube Rollfast while the kids were trick or treating and was offered a free bike frame. I was thinking "great, another Wal-Mart P.O.S! To my surprise I was handed this! How RAD is that!!!! Any help on an I.D would be greatly appreciated! Do you guys think I...
Well she's finally assembled and on the road! A last minute hiccup like having to repaint the entire front fender added a little extra excitement and suspense to a great build!!! This was truly a family affair that the wife and kids even got in on. My daughter stayed up into the early morning...
Hi all! My first build off is almost in the history books! I just finished up lacing and truing my first set of rims. It was'nt as bad as I thought....luckily! Lol
Tires came in wednesday & I just mounted them as a matter of fact. The bars & grips were put on wednesday also. I'll finish assembly...
Paint will be completed this weekend then on to assembly. The tires and a couple other little things will be here on Wednesday. I can't wait to see it on the pavement!!!!
I used the same silver metalcast ground coat and anodized purple as I painted the rims with. After taping of the graphics I cleaned the inside of my tape lines then scuffed it with grey scotch brite to give the metalcast something to stick to. Then cleaned again, tacked, then shot 2 coats of...
I wanted to give a nod to the designers at Monark and stayed with the original graphics scheme. I laid out the graphics using 1/8' 3M line tape. This will leave a very crisp edge without any bleed thru.
1 very light "tack" coat followed by 3 medium wet coats of the Dupli Color gloss black did the trick for the frame, forks, chain guard and the fenders. I got ahead of my self and only have pics of the frame at this stage.
The rims were shot with 2 coats of the silver metalcast ground coat followed by the recommended 3 light coats of purple anodized metalcast. I must give credit were credit is due. In the first pic is my daughter for whom this bike is being built for. She is the one that came up with the color...
Ok......so originally I was not going to post ANY pics of paint until " 50's Monark Muscle " was completely done. But I'm very proud of this paint job and can't help myself! Let me first say, spray bombs have come a long way since I used to "play" around with them in my high school days! lol The...
THE most important part of any paint job is the prep work! I cannot stress this enough! Whether or not its bare metal or body filler, the surface has to be cleaned first otherwise you end up pushing the contaminates into your substrate. I used an automotive paint prep/wax and grease remover. On...
