I do have a couple of old Brooks saddles in reserve looking for a project... Going to see how the original saddle on the bike comes out before I make the switch.

I think you're right Carl. I've seen the discussions around about your "invention" and I'm considering putting it to use. Going to practice the results on a couple of trashed forks to get the feel for it. :)

Stem and bars were coated with a thick coat of brushed painted silver paint. After I took a wire brush to them, I can see why. I’m going to leave them just as they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@OddJob As a matter of fact, another pair of 28’s on this one... And a pair of 25’s on this one, lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Raleigh Preston Retro

I’ve had my eye on the Preston ever since my LBS brought the Raleigh line into their shop. And they’re reasonably priced as well. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crankset in, fork and wheels on so it moves around now. Put a 700c x 28 tire on the front for now. The big one doesn’t seem like it will work out but I’ll see as I go along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After checking out a bunch of spray clear coats, I found this one gave me the sheen I was looking for... really none at all. Starting to put it back together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Same treatment to the fork but front to back rather than top to bottom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes and I’m kind of digging the rusty rat look for this build. Originally I had planned to do a Canadian version of your Salthammer build @kingfish254. I’m leaning more toward a retro flat track speedway racer build now as I am seeing it develop. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Back to work on the frame... Clear-coated the underside of the whole thing. Ratting it out from the topside... 24 hours later and this happened. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love the look of these things. I’ve got ThickSlicks on 4 of my regular everyday riders in every size they make. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finally got all the blue brush painted colour off of the frame... And my tires arrived today in the mail. Pretty sure I’m going to have to do some sheet metal work on the fenders to get these monsters under them, lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got the fork, headset and a fender cleaned up today... I’m going to tackle the frame tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This added month to the Build-off deadline seems to have me dragging my heels so far, lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Decided to skip over the fork for the moment and deal with the seat. After a 3 day soak in vinegar followed by 4 days in Coca Cola, things cleaned up pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
