I think you're right Carl. I've seen the discussions around about your "invention" and I'm considering putting it to use. Going to practice the results on a couple of trashed forks to get the feel for it.

Is that the original you are referring to? It looks a little 'cruiser shaped' for this speedy steed.

I agree that this bike needs a more ‘race’ saddle, but I’m also a fan of comfort.
Something like a Brooks ‘aged’ Flyer

Or as a more budget friendly option, the leather saddle that Ian sells..

I also need to make some sort of a layback seatpost to move the seat further back. After cruising around yesterday afternoon on my most recent pick (1951 Columbia Newsboy Special), I’ve realized I’m not a fan of “pedalling my feet behind my arse”...

With a little help from my “fire hammer” (aka fire duct tape, fire wrench, fire saw, cigar lighter, etc...)

Me too @OddJob.
Chain is in the cleaner drink now so it can go on early next week. Have a Multiple Sclerosis 2 Day Charity ride this weekend so I’m resting up for that. It’s a “carbon fiber rocket” weekend for me.

Disassembled front hub.

Time for a re-grease.
The rear rim will require a little more work to clean up.

Rear wheel all cleaned up and re-laced, good as new.

Now, on to the front wheel this afternoon.

Laced up the front wheel and just thought it looked too run of the mill, so I jazzed it up a little (thanks to YouTube)

Now I have to do the same to the rear and true them up, but that’s tomorrow’s project.
