Never too old for a Big Wheel

Well well. I ripped the thing apart and am not at all impressed with the construction of this particular model. No bearings in the "headset" just nylon bushings. The cranks arms aren't any longer than about 70mm (Not a typo) Of course no grease used on any part of it when it was assembled...

Never too old for a Big Wheel

Scored a blue one out of Craigslist for $30. Let the modification begin. Pix later.

    Schwinn Jaguar Cop Bike

Around here I saw them sold at Target that last couple of years. I always thought it would be a nice basis for a custom project. Looks like a good deal for $50.

    Whats your most ridden bike?

My flatbar road bike. About 1700 miles last year. I hate exercise for the sake of exercise, thank goodness I like to ride a bike.

Never too old for a Big Wheel

Outlaw, IDK how to build a freewheel for one, so my current plan is to build a gravity version until I can find a used one with the freewheel set up already on it. According to Target's website they have some coming in soon: http://www.target.com/Toymonster-Street ... cle&page=6 Fast Eddie...

Never too old for a Big Wheel

Not sure about a good source for the wheels, maybe an actual old school big wheel or Scream Machine. Perhaps even a Little Tikes car or a Power Wheels vehicle. You're absolutely right about needing those to make a good drifter. I would be afraid of anything with too small a diameter like skate...

Never too old for a Big Wheel

Yes, there are 3 or 4 with that freewheel set up. I will be scouring garage sales for one this spring/summer. For now I figure it is easier and cheaper to go the gravity route w/ no cranks. Fast Eddie, go for it, break the seal on this one and get everybody motivated! For real fun you can put...

Convert West Coast Chopper to Adult size.

The seat post size is 31.8 mm which is not all that hard to find in 350mm length. I believe the OCC Stinray's use the same size.

    How I hate winter.

Is that garage door access important for getting your snowblower out? :D Winter here makes me appreciate the other seasons that actually let me ride in relative comfort. It finally hit about 49 here today and I saw about 5 people out on the motorcycles today. Two days ago it was snowmobiles.

Never too old for a Big Wheel

BWBO 2009 Great idea! Video required of it doing a drift session too. Or a backflip! I wish I knew how to weld... I was thinking that you don't really need cranks, gravity trikes are way easier to build than tracking down one of those freewheeling trike front wheel/fork set ups. Just...

Never too old for a Big Wheel

I tell you all there is a revolution about to take place, we will all be building or buying some type of adult big wheel type rig some time in '09. The cause of this madness? The Nitro Circus on MTV. Travis Pastrana and company are using a Trek model to perform some insane stunts and there have...

    OPINION PLEASE!

    3. Myself, I would try some different bars to see what that does to the look as well. Those Huffy frames seem to have a really short top tube. Apes, drag bars, whatever you have lying around. Something that will let you pull a wheelie whenever you like. :-) Keep it simple, keep it cheap! 62H

    Fetish Cycles

Considering it is the right size for my son or myself , we will probably try to get it for less money (good parts or not I think $400 is a little high). The guy who owns it has 3 bikes on consignment at the shop...at the urging of his wife to unload the bikes, which she feels he has too many...

    Fetish Cycles

Do any of you have any experience with Fetish Cycles out of Arizona? There is an older 59cm road bike in really good shape at of LBS for $400 and I would like some feedback before I think about buying it too seriously. It has full 8speed 105, carbon fork, carbon cranks, external bearing BB and...
