26 MTB to gravel bike conversion to town bike

Cool thing is that one is made... in Poland :D

    Upper chain tensioner

Not an option. It's illegal in PL.

    Early 60's ZZR Pionier.

Right now, before I download pictures from my camera I can just sya this: Inspiration for this thing came out of... 1907 Strap Tank 1909 V-Twin Bull Cycles 1910 Flying Merkel replica. Bull Cycles 1926 Peashooter replica. Bull Cycles Excelsior replica.

    Upper chain tensioner

Technically this would be the best option, but I don't have the space to mount that second BB. The only option would be to mount it super low, thus leaving even less clearence than it already has...

What can any of you tell me about a Huffy Koza?

Very old Shimano Altus shifters & tourney derailleurs. Apart of that, the only thing I can tell you is that "Koza" means Goat in Polish, and it's a popular term people use for bikes in some regions. The term came from the nickname used for fixie track bikes.

    My ratrod build

Love to see that there are some Polish bikes still out there! Except from Poland that is... :21:
  7. SpikeFC

    Upper chain tensioner

Exactly what I was thinking of. This thing is not spring loaded Well it's made for a bicycle engine, so I think it should withstand use of a normal chain.
  8. SpikeFC

    Upper chain tensioner

In my case the ghost ring would not work. It makes the chain go higher, while I need to make it go lower  I've seen upper chain tensioners, mostly on freeride or BMX bikes, but they are mounted just next to the crankset, and that gives me basically nothing. Question is - will it...
  9. SpikeFC

    Early 60's ZZR Pionier.

Originally I was thinking on making this for the #15 Build-Off, BUT I JUST CAN'T WAIT :21: First of all - The base is a frame from the early sixties (don't know the exact production date, since ZZR stamped the year in code. I know from some sources that the frame number G9 XXXXX is a 1963 and...

    Pedalist

    This... is bad...:21:
  11. SpikeFC

    Upper chain tensioner

Yes, but the problem lies somwhere else... I will make a thread for this baby in the Builds section by the way. Originally I wanted to wait with it for the Build-Off #15, but... I just can't wait, and I probably would not finish it in 4 months time :21: And I'm also so excited about it, that I...
  12. SpikeFC

    Upper chain tensioner

Has anybody ever done this? I've seen only tensioners running on the lower part of the chain like here: Question is - is it even possible? I might have a problem with a chain that can't clear the seat stays, and I want to avoid cutting the frame.

    Beginnings of a gravel bike

Well, they actually do, I think SKS still makes them

    Weather Report

No snow here, last week was mostly in the fifties in Warsaw PL o_O Yesterday it only started snowing in the mountains.

What do you do with old chains?

Out of old cogs, brake pads (from disc brakes), chains and knobby tires I make postapocalyptic costumes & stuff

    It's Just A Bike

Ekhu... ekhu... I'm just 33 and still think the same. Guess that makes me a youngling

Bad tire deal - folded cruiser tires.

A lot, but after the third complaint they stopped, and probably just fired the packing guy who did this.

    Nexus 3 speed brake noise

I use grease in Nexus hubs only on bearings and a little bit on the hubs case. Then put it together and fill it with oil. Nice, smooth & silent.

Early 2000s 12 speed road bike came brand new with 1970s era components.

I guess the only difference is that they use american standart BB's
