Bought a cheap Murray at a yard sale

For electric bicycle use only? I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that claim. Nice paint job.

    Headset won't stay tight?

Did you hold the race or turn it slightly counter clockwise with a pair of channelocks as you tightened down the locknut? Sometimes if you dont you get exactly what you describe.

Columbia Superb it's getting older by the day!

Re: Columbia Superb 1939 Batmobile I think its perfect. I've overestored a couple of my bikes and they tended to loose their personality of being old. I'm in the process of putting a happy time motor on a bike like that and I might just paint it up like yours.

    Viktor Schreckengost

This may need to be moved to another folder. However I would like to see someone try to make a real version of one of these renderings. These drawings are from around 1938 by the guy who gave us many of the bike designs from the Murray company includeing many of the classic Elgins, Jc higgins...

    Murray X-1

I tried to make an adult sized version of the bike I had as a kid. The transitional period between muscle bikes and BMX. Haven't ridden it enough to find out if the neighbor kids will laugh at this one too.

    Street skinny cruiser thread!

Hey thanks for your help guys. Ive got it figured out now. It's an Austrian made JC higgins 60sish. Sold for 25 bucks in the sears 1970 catalog. Kinda neat in that it has the 3 peice bottom bracket and all three main tubes are of a different diameter and seem to be of seamless tubing. At 30...

    anybody got any ideas?

I'm thinking a 426 hemi and some fenton mags j/k. How about painting it red and white and make it an adult-sized version of a kids trike? Maybe hook a kids pull wagon on it.

Columbia 1939 Superb old as grandma! Rear Fender Like Whoa!

<<Are the springs on the seat adjustable? >> No. What I have done in the past is to put the seat pan on a repo Persons type seat chassis. You lose some of the cool factor but then it's at least rideable. It might be hit or miss if the bolts would line up with yours though. (or you could just go...

Columbia 1939 Superb old as grandma! Rear Fender Like Whoa!

Yes the tires are that old. Ive got a set that are still supple. the paint on them can be SOSed off. The chaingard I think is newer but is columbia not much different than what it came with. The front fender I think is of the next generation columbia. (looks better imo) Heres the cool part. A...

    My old Huffy Radio Bike

<<What would you do if you had this bike? >> two turntables and a microphone! j/k I would paint it. Then fashion a tank with a graphic equlizer display on the sides and put a woofer on the rack. Then I would be too embarased to ride it in public. But thats what I'd do.

    Pea shooter

Very nicely done. Let us know how that engine runs. I'm tempted to buy one. Also just in case you were not aware of it Harley made a small two stoke bike in the 50s . also looks pretty cool. http://www.harleyhummer.com/PHOTOS/1955Hummer.JPG

    Info on my new Firestone

The first example of this frame appeared in 1946. Don't know when it was stopped being made but mabe as late as early 60s or 58 as a wild stab. Mine has a serial number on the bottom bracket instead of a tag that ends 053 so ive just went with the idea that its a 53. If you go to "nostalgic...

    Info on my new Firestone

It is a base model firestone badged monark built bicycle. The frame is the same as the super deluxe or supercruiser with the exception of not having a stop to protect the tank from being dented by the fork. The rocket bike was a slightly lower level model than the supercruiser. However both...
