Nice looking bike. I was literally just now thinking about "weathering". When I was a kid I was an avid modeler. Cars, bikes, aircraft, heavy armor...anything and everything. I was pretty good at weathering, aging, dirtying, bending/breaking military equipment...I just now said to myself...

I picked up a Shimano 3 speed stick for my ...NEXT... build, to go with the SA RXL-RD3 gears/drum brake I got earlier...and it looks brand new. It's NOS, but still, it really does look brand new. This may be too pretty to cut up. Can anyone ID this for me? What year and what bike? These...

Yeah...Like I said, I saw a picture of a front brake hub, and the rest of the bike appeared in my mind. Now I have TWO parts for my next bike. Neither one of them is a front brake hub.....

Do you buy parts for a specific build, or at least a general idea in mind? Or do you see a part and think "that's cool, someday I can do something with that"? Or do you see a single part and, in your minds eye, a bicycle appears around it? I saw a picture of a front wheel drum brake...
