    Cresent Racer,COMPANION build to RRBBO8

This is really great; you've even got air-cooling for your feet! That seat would look great if it was done up with varnished wicker upholstery, or some wicker side panels. It's really capturing the essence of the old cyclecars from the teens and twenties.

Ladies Firestone 500 Speed Cruiser -- OMG IT'S DONE!

Re: Ladies Firestone 500 Speed Cruiser Your lucky to have a wife that appreciates old things; you should just do what makes her happy and not worry about a few extra bucks for the paint :)

1939 Girls Elgin UPDATED ITS DONE Bicycle Restoration..

Looks really nice! I don't think Elgin made any bikes that weren't beautiful, and the girls bikes have a bit of a scooter vibe to them that make them appealing in their own right.

Rare Huffman Twin Flex dual springer

The 'After' picture made my blood pressure come down a bit  Nice save!

Western flyer tank bike for wife.. DONE!!!

Re: Western flyer tank bike for wife If you have hills where you live I would suggest putting a higher tooth count sprocket on the Nexus. I did that to my 3 speed Electra and it made the bike much more rideable. They come with a 19 tooth sprocket, so start with a 21 or even 23 tooth...

1930 Hartford by Westfield - Finally on the Road!!!!!!!!

Re: 1930 Hartford by Westfield Mfg/Pope Would you be able to pass on the dimensions of the Double cell Delta battery can? I want to build one for my Elgin, and I'm mostly curious about the length. I'll be using 'The Republic of Tea' canisters as a basis for the can. $10 for a reproduction...

    1927 Stutz Motor-Bike built by Pope/Westfield Mfg

If it were me, I would go with the brown saddle, but black grips and pedals. The bright red/orange on the pedals and grips kind of overpowers the subdued color of the rest of the bike. The black saddle looks a bit too bold with the frame too. Really nice bike; I'd love to get something...

1930 Hartford by Westfield - Finally on the Road!!!!!!!!

Re: 1930 Hartford by Westfield Mfg/Pope I'll be really interested to hear how the wooden rims work out for you, if they feel different etc.. I have a very similar frame; which I think might be a Columbia, and I'm considering wooden rims for it (after I get my other projects finished) I'm...

1919 Elgin - Big Wheeled Street Rod?

Thanks for the nice words :) I'm double checking the calculations for the spoke length today. Also a bit of wet sanding and polishing on the rack. Does anyone know some good sources for spokes/nipples? In stainless? I'm going to be using the thickest spokes that will fit; I think 14 gauge.

    It's a bike AND a mower

You need to put a spiked rear wheel on for more traction; it will also aerate the soil AND kill moles. Pretty cool!

1919 Elgin - Big Wheeled Street Rod?

I've made some progress on the Elgin. I finished fabricating the rack, and painted it: I was agonizing over the pin striping; I even emailed some guy who was supposed to be famous about doing them for me, but he never replied, so I did it myself using masking tape. The wheels were the...

    1950 Schwinn, odd color "distressed"

For aging the decals you might try tinting some clear coat with some brown/yellow and spraying that over the decal after it's applied. Use a light tint and build up layers until you get the right amount of tint; it's a good job for an airbrush.

    Schwinn Collegiate Board Tracker

I've got a Collegiate that I use to commute to work 3 days a week; I put a Brooks saddle on it and some Velo Orange Left Bank handlebars with cork grips. It's such a nice riding bike; really doesn't need more than five speeds. Be wary of old stock replacement tires in the Schwinn size, I...

1940's Huffman build-- Now named: Copper Stopper

There used to be a funky old 50's refrigerator that was that color, at a place I worked at a long time ago. This looks better than that refrigerator... much better!

1919 Elgin - Big Wheeled Street Rod?

I purchased this frame off ebay a while back; my idea for it was to make it look as original as possible, but lighter, faster, better brakes etc. Specs are: Velocity P35 700C rims, Velo Orange crank and Left Bank handlebars, SRAM P5 hub with coaster brake, Sturmey-Archer front drum, Schwalbe...

    Indian Board Track Racer

Given your impressive skills, I think you could make a decent looking fake motor. Make the head removable and put a large wound-up elastic band inside, so if the cops hassle you, you can lift the head and have a good laugh.

My First Build: The Micheal Delaney Rampar

Rampar bikes have a tie-in with Raleigh; they were a budget line for Raleigh and Taiwanese made, at least in the case of the one I had, which was 3 speed Roadster. Looks good!

Not that kind of 29er UPDATE: faux tank

Re: Not that kind of 29er UPDATE: saddlebags Nice to see other people working on the 28" wheel bikes. As much as I like balloon tire bikes, I like the adult sized 28" wheel bikes better The wood graining looks really good! I'm in the middle of a 1919 Elgin Resto-Mod; repainted to match the...

    Huffman I-BEAM

I love the frame mods! The skinny front tire doesn't do anything for me, I think it needs a fender in the front (I'll always say that, though  ) The I-Beam makes such a strong visual statement that other elements of the bike need to be bolder to not get overwhelmed. I think the...
